Beyond Stranger Danger

By: Detective Don Howell

Edited by: Juliana Zhu, Esq.

Beyond Stranger Danger: Smart Parents Raising Safe Kids is a recap of my 30 years as a sex crimes detective. During those years, I discovered a common theme in 90% of my molest cases. It was from this theme that I came to understand how victims and offenders are created. Both theme and underlying cause are contained in this book.

Twenty real life micro-stories are used to describe the victim-offender dynamic, in its many forms; making for easy reading and deep understanding. Written with my grandchildren in mind, any actual touching is implied, not described, making the book suitable for anyone from 13 to 100 years old.

My next task will be to convince parents of the need for this book. We have become too comfortable with our old friend ‘Stranger Danger’. With less than 1% of child molest cases involving a stranger, this comfort continues to leave our kids at risk.
