San Antonio police arrested 38-year-old Steven Charles Sumlin, who is also known as Anthony Lamar, on suspicion of aggravated promotion of prostitution. Sumlin is accused of being the head of a college prostitution ring called “School Girls by Jazleen.” The website offered a menu of “services” to customers by offering descriptions of the women, their measurements, and what they could do for the paying customer. According to San Antonio police, Sumlin targeted college-aged women and lured the women into prostitution by using Internet ads, promising modeling or easy money. He would then use force and intimidation to stop the women from leaving. Sumlin is accused of forcing up to 30 women into prostitution in San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas.
San Antonio police worked alongside police departments in Austin and Dallas as well as Texas Attorney General’s Office in a 6month long investigation. A number of women involved in the prostitution ring turned him in to the police Friday after an undercover detective went to a home calling himself “John.” According to the affidavit, he was taken upstairs to a bedroom where he gave a “donation” fee of $300. The officer said in the affidavit, “The escort completely disrobed, lied down on the bed, and asked the undercover detective to do the same.” Police entered the house before anything could happen and the women told police that the person in charger of the operation was Sumlin.
