Companies Adopt "Freedom Seal" to Show Support Against Human Trafficking

The Tronie Foundation is a Global UN Accredited Organization to End Slavery and Human Trafficking. It is founded by two former victims who are working to raise global awareness about modern day slavery. Since 2006, the organization has been speaking up for victims of human trafficking through global speeches, international broadcasts, radio and print. Between 2011 and 2012, the Tronie Foundation reached 500 million homes and hotel rooms in over 150 countries through the United Nations (UN) General Assembly speeches. Through its Global Survivor Network, it has worked with survivors in 5 continents and 20 countries. It has also advised the Governor of Washington State and other key leaders to sign into law 12 bills regarding human trafficking.

 

 

The Freedom Seal, the logo of the Tronie Foundation, is a visual marker of freedom from human trafficking. Companies that displays the Freedom Seal informs their consumers that they are battling human trafficking. The Seal works in 3 ways:

  • It raises public awareness and forces people to be more aware about the social implications of their spending. Research has shown that 66% of consumers in both the UK and the US would stop buying a product if they learned that its production uses modern slavery.

  • It helps consumers identify companies who support organizations that care for survivors of human trafficking. Research has shown that 10% of people would pay more for slavery-free products.

  • The application process for the Seal helps business implement specific policies and procedures aimed at preventing forced labor.
